Planning for your conference

WHERE WE ARE

The conference will be held at the University of Sussex, Jubilee Building.

Located in Falmer, just in the outskirts of Brighton, the University of Sussex is conveniently accessible from major international airports, including Gatwick and Heathrow. From central London, the train journey to Brighton takes just under 1 hour.

GETTING HERE

Please see below instructions on how to reach the University of Sussex campus:

From Brighton:

  • By Train: Take a train from Brighton Station to Falmer Station (9 minutes).
  • By Bus: Several buses run from central Brighton to the University of Sussex campus, including routes 23, 25, 25X, 28 and 29.
  • By Car: Drive via the A27 to Falmer.

From Lewes:

  • By Train: Take a train from Lewes Station to Falmer Station (7 minutes).
  • By Bus: Bus routes 28 and 29 connect Lewes to the University of Sussex campus.
  • By Car: Drive via the A27 to Falmer.

From London:

  • By Train: Take a direct train from London Victoria or London Bridge to Brighton (approximately 1 hour). Once in Brighton, transfer to a train to Falmer Station (9 minutes).
  • Or take a direct train from London Victoria or London Bridge to Lewes (on hour) and change at Lewes to Falmer Station (10 minutes).聽
  • By Car: Drive via the A23/M23, then take the A27 to Falmer.

From Gatwick Airport:

  • By Train: Take a direct train from Gatwick Airport to Brighton or Lewes 聽(30 minutes), then transfer to a train to Falmer Station.
  • By Car: Drive south on the M23/A23 towards Brighton, then take the A27 to Falmer.

From Heathrow Airport:

  • By Train: Take the Heathrow Express to London Paddington (15 minutes), then transfer to the London Underground to reach either London Victoria or London Bridge. From there, take a train to Brighton or Lewes, and then a train to Falmer Station.
  • By Coach: National Express coaches run directly from Heathrow to Brighton (approximately 2,5 hours), where you can then take a train to Falmer Station or a bus to campus.
  • By Car: Follow the M25, then take the M23/A23 towards Brighton. Finally, take the A27 to Falmer.

Walking from Falmer Train Station to Campus:

  • Exit Falmer Station and use the subway under the A27 to reach the University of Sussex campus. Follow the signs for the University of Sussex (note that the University of Brighton also has a campus at Falmer, so ensure you follow the correct signs).

REGISTRATION

When you arrive, please check in at the registration desk located at the entrance of the Jubilee Building. There, you will receive your conference bag and name badge. The registration desk opens at 9am each morning of the conference 3rd to 5th September.

ACCOMMODATION, CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT

Check-in: once you are on campus, please make your way to the East Slope Residences Reception. Check in will be available from 2pm on your scheduled day of arrival. The reception is staffed 24 hours.

Check-out: You must check out by 9am on your scheduled date of departure.

PARKING

If you plan to park on campus, please inform us in advance via email (ku.ca.eciabobfsctd-556923@ecnerefnoc). We will then send you a parking permit for you to print out and place in your car鈥檚 front windscreen. Free parking will be available for all delegates in designated visitor parking areas on campus. Please ensure you have printed out the parking permit sent to you. This needs to be placed in your front windscreen for the duration of your stay. Any cars parked without a valid permit or outside of a designated car park may be ticketed. We recommend parking in the multi-storey car park situated just behind the Jubilee building (Car Park 7). If you are staying in campus accommodation, the closest car park is Car Park 6 (The Ridge Car Park).

WHAT TO WEAR IN ENGLAND IN SEPTEMBER

September in England can be quite variable. Temperatures typically range from 12掳C to 19掳C. It’s advisable to wear layers, including a light jacket or sweater, as mornings and evenings can be cooler. Bring an umbrella or waterproof jacket, as rain is common at this time of the year. Please bring walking shoes too!

The University of Sussex campus is equipped with accessible facilities, including ramps, elevators, and designated parking spaces.
