Anti-Racism and Reparations: perspectives from Comparative and International Education

This year, ahead of the UKFIET 2025 conference, 糖心传媒 President Professor Arathi Sriprakash will be hosting a workshop series on anti-racism and reparation. All are warmly welcome to attend and contribute! Please save the dates.

Online Workshop 1: Debating reparations in CIE. Wednesday 11 June, 10:00 鈥 11:30, UK time.

In this workshop we will be discussing two papers, to explore the politics and possibilities of reparations in CIE. All participants are asked to read these papers in advance.

Online Workshop 2: A case for embedding structural analyses of race and racism in comparative and international education. Wednesday 18 June, 10:00 鈥 11:30, UK time

In this workshop, authors of recent paper on race and CIE (Yuvraj Singh, Sharon Walker, Simina Dragos, Jess Oddy) will present the key ideas of their work, focusing on theories of: Racialisation, Racial States, and Racial Capitalism. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how these theories connect to their own research. The session will have opportunities for Q&A and discussion.

Online Workshop 3: New research on racial justice in CIE, Wednesday 2 July, 10:00 – 11:30, UK time.

Come along to hear new research on racial justice in comparative / international perspectives!

Topics include: casteism in India; the lived experience of school exclusion; Islamophobia and global critical race theory in education;  race and education in Thailand; the experiences of global majority teachers in the UK.
