Silvia Espinal-Meza is a Peruvian sociologist with 15 years of experience in the fields of social sciences and critical education in Peru and the UK. Silvia is currently a PhD candidate in Education at the University of Bristol. Silvia鈥檚 research is rooted in critical approaches for amplifying the voices of historically marginalised populations in the Global South. Her doctoral research focuses on the narratives of social justice through critical pedagogies from the voices of seven rural teachers in Peru.

Over the previous three decades, social justice in education has become increasingly relevant to debates on globalisation, capitalism, and inequalities around the world. In the Latin American context, neoliberalism has become hegemonic in the last 30 years with Peru adopting this model in 1991.
