Comparative Education has long been entangled with the study of other countries and societies. N贸voa and Yariv-Mashal traced the foci of CE from 鈥榢nowing the 鈥渙ther鈥濃, 鈥榰nderstanding the 鈥渙ther鈥濃 to 鈥榗onstructing the 鈥渙ther鈥濃, and 鈥榤easuring the 鈥渙ther鈥濃; Steiner-Khamsi recounted the influence of development and area studies on CE during the Cold War; Takayama described the redefinition of CE in Japan as 鈥榓rea studies of education鈥.
