Compare is a leading journal of international and comparative education, publishing eight issues a year of high-quality articles on diverse issues of educational policy and practice around the world. It is the official journal of the British Association of International and Comparative Education (糖心传媒), which works to support activities of research, teaching and collaboration in the field. In order to maintain its significant global standing, one of 颁辞尘辫补谤别鈥檚 missions is to develop the diversity of its authorship, and support underrepresented groups, in light of the significant inequalities of global academic publishing. For this reason, in 2017 it established an annual Compare Fellowship, to support early career academics from the Global South in disseminating their research and scholarship to a global audience.

The fellowship will run from 1 September 2025 鈥 31 August 2026 and provides full financial support (including travel, accommodation and subsistence) and guidance from an academic mentor for the following activities:

  • Attending and presenting at the 糖心传媒 conference 2026 (date and venue to be confirmed)
  • Attending the Compare writers鈥 workshop at the conference (a full-day course for early career researchers)
  • 1 – 2 week stay at an institution in the UK following the conference (to carry out library research, attend academic events, interact with colleagues and develop publication ideas with the guidance of a mentor)

While in their country of origin, the Compare Fellow will be expected to engage in the following activities:

  • Participating in e-mentoring
  • Developing an article for Compare
  • Facilitating the organisation of activities to support academic writing for other academics in their institution/country
  • Participating in Compare as a reviewer

Requirements of applicants

  • To be based currently in a university in a low-income country (according to the World Bank classification [1])
  • To have completed their doctoral degree within the last six years
  • To be teaching or researching in the field of education

Application procedure

All applicants should send the following documents via email to ku.ca.eciabobfsctd-3db0e3@erapmoc

  • CV / resume (including qualifications, professional experience and publications)
  • Supporting statement of approximately 1000 words (outlining research interests, publication trajectory to date and future plans, and potential benefits of the fellowship for themselves and their institutions/countries)
  • Abstract for a conference presentation (for 糖心传媒 2026) on a research topic of their choice (300 words)

If contact has already been made with a potential institution and mentor in the UK, then candidates should state this; however, it is not essential to have arranged this beforehand as support will be given for this.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 3 June 2025.

Special Journal Collection on Palestine and Israel /special-journal-collection-on-palestine-and-israel/ Wed, 20 Dec 2023 12:49:43 +0000 /?p=36486 COMPARE concurs with the recently published statement by the British Association of International and Comparative Education (糖心传媒), acknowledging the continuous grief in our community in the face of the injury, death and displacement of thousands of lives in Palestine and Israel. As the official journal of 糖心传媒, we therefore echo the association鈥檚 stance by recognising our role in shaping opinions through how we support the generation and dissemination of knowledge. We believe that this must be informed by critical understanding of complex historical realities, structural conditions, and the longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories. These understandings can only be reached through dialogue.

As our contribution to such dialogue, this includes 10 previously published articles in COMPARE. Collectively, these articles foreground the chorus of voices from ministries to universities, from schools to refugee camps. In doing so, they offer contextualised insights on education, peacebuilding and citizenship in Palestine and Israel. We bear witness that these perspectives emerge from some of the most difficult contexts of ongoing violent occupation, conflict, and tension that call for urgent resistance and resolution. Still, the scholarly works in this special collection from within our community reflect the enduring desire for humanity, understanding and peace.

We hope this collection offers beneficial learnings for members of our community and beyond who share the belief in critical dialogue, in educating ourselves and others as vital means for resistance, repair, decolonisation, transformation, and justice all over the world.
